The Franklin County Law Library has served the courts, agencies, and citizens of central Ohio since 1887. The library is established by statute and governed by the Franklin County Law Library Resources Board. Any attorney practicing in Franklin County or in an adjoining county who is in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio may request a library card to check out books or eBooks. Library materials do not circulate to the general public; however, all materials are available to the public for use within the library. The library also offers reference services, printing, scanning, copying, faxing, and notarization; minimal fees are charged for some services.
Please note that if you incur any fees for services, the library accepts cash only.
The Franklin County Law Library cannot provide legal advice or make attorney referrals. Law Library staff members are not attorneys and cannot answer legal questions; they can, however, refer you to helpful legal resources. It is up to you to request the specific information, resources, or forms that you need. If you are unsure, consult an attorney.
The Franklin County Law Library Resources Board has adopted rules and policies for library use. All library users are expected to follow rules for the proper use of library spaces, resources, and equipment. Users must also follow an approved code of conduct for acceptable behavior within the library. Failure to do so may result in removal and/or loss of library privileges. These rules are detailed in the Library User Policy Manual, which is available in the library. The digital version is also posted below.
