Franklin County, named for American statesman, scientist, and inventor Benjamin Franklin, was established on April 30, 1803. The Franklin County government structure includes 33agencies, 42 independently elected officials, and 39 appointed boards, commissions, and committees. The Franklin County Commissioners manage a budget of more than $1 billion each year1. The 2015 United States Census Bureau population estimate for Franklin County is 1,251,7222.
